ch-ch-ch-changes

it has been over a year since this puppy has been updated but i thought i'd update it since i now have a puppy. (pictured)

sadly greg and annie now longer work a foot apart. they don't even live in the same city. greg moved to chicago and annie got really good in the olive oil industry. they miss each other terribly but know that one day they will be reunited, and it feels so good.

miss you bunny bear!

best wine ever

just wanted to give a shout out to my favorite wine since it is almost summertime and the time for whites is upon us friends. i need to start by saying that i am not a connoisseur but i do make trips to tj's wine shop frequently so my judgement is aight. the only white wine i enjoy these days is sauvingon blanc. sure it may be difficult to say being from texas, but this smooth, crisp and dry white doesn't have any enemies that i know of. everyone is a fan. there is a particular brand i found one day while at tj's. i had heard that new zealand has the best savvy blancs, so i went to the appropriate aisle and there it was. the label was very simple. price was right and i'm sure it had one of those recommended/top 50 labels next to the price tag so it sounded like a sure bet. so next time you're at any wine shop, please take advantage.

here's to you brancott. may our friendship last a lifetime.

p.s. annie and greg are no longer 3 feet apart all day. congrats to annie in her pursuit of an mfa.

The Fifth Element round two? Unfortunately, no...

In the new issue of W Magazine Bruce Willis and his new leading lady, model Emma, are featured together in an S&M style photo shoot. I've never worked with him, but Bruce doesn't strike me as the type to blur the line between his private and professional lives. I guess what we are left with is a little known model whose new uber-famous hubby is throwing her career a bone. Or perhaps this is Bruce crying out that Demi is not the only member of AARP who can bag a young one. Unfortunately for the newlyweds these pictures are just so stupid.

Inappropriate!

If there is one thing Greg makes fun of me for its my NetFlix queue. He says its annoying which is his gentle way of calling me snobby and uptight. He also accuses me of applying this psychology to the music I listen to - according to Greg, on more than one occasion (per Greg, "All the time") I've told him I didn't like some new band we were listening to at work and then as soon as I hear it on NPR All Songs Considered it becomes my new favorite. Isn't Greg vicious?

Anyway the point is that if I'm going to watch a movie for leisure (we have to watch movies for work all the time) I want it to be one that makes me feel better for having watched it. Movies that come up in conversations that I would like to contribute to, you know?

Well last night I saw a movie that would make a phony out of me. THE HANGOVER. There is nothing uptight about it. This is a movie that crosses the line.... and then keeps going and going. Its completely absurd. Did I feel like a bad person for laughing when Zach Galifianakis takes a baby's hand and makes him appear to masturbate? Yes. Did I keep laughing anyway? Yes. Racial profiling - check. Mental Retardation jokes - check. Misogyny - double check.

This movie is raunchy, bordering on foul, but it works. I think it works because all the actors totally go for it - they go all the way. And we are talking about a cliche bachelor party meets Vegas plot!

So this is what I take away from THE HANGOVER- Don't take yourself too seriously. Things that are absurd and don't happen in real life are the most entertaining. There is a bad person in all of us.

Greg leaves for Vegas today at 5pm (I swear.) And like they say in Slumdog, it is written.

the only television you need this summer

so yes, all of our fall programming just came to end with some season finales ranging from awesome(grey's, ugly betty, and even smallville) to lackluster (gossip girl, and especially you brothers and sisters). even idol was a little bit of a let down but my favorite part about idol being over is what takes its place.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE might be my favorite reality show on television right now. i've posted some videos from last season to hopefully entice you. right now are just the auditions which you don't necessarily need to watch. i'll update you on when it is appropriate.

1. when dancers face elimination, they basically have to dance for their life. this is my favorite from last year. dude's names i gev. you also get to see how freakishly tall the host cat deely is.

2. in the end, it is 2 guys and 2 girls. the finale matches up each person. this was the guy performance with twitch and joshua. hip-hop dancers should not be this good at this kind of dance.

3. finally, mark and chelsea. just really good choreography.

Come to Jesus. And by Jesus I mean Twitter

Finally over the Facebook jitters? Me too! So now I'm twittering... and this is why:

4. This article from The New York Observer: HarperCollins wants to be your friend

Listen to Debbie. She knows (and how cute is she?) You can't fight it if you want to be relevant. Damien Hirst, Ryan Seacrest, Nicholas Kristof - They know this. They celebrate. They Twitter! To wit, if you want the freshest news and ideas, read your Twitter feed.

3. We've come to the point where entire wars (particularly about media) are fought on Twitter grounds. When Dan Baum's contract with The New Yorker was not renewed where did he lash out? Twitter.

2. David Carr. You read his column. You've read his book. Now read this:

When white trash guys like me want to put on airs, we crack the fig newtons instead of the double stuff oreos. that's just how we roll

Umm I'm sorry, but was that not the highlight of your day just now? If you followed David Carr on Twitter little gems like that would pop up a couple times each day. Like reaching into your pocket and finding a buck.

1. Today my friend saw the Wienermobile. Tweet Tweet.

Yes Greg and Annie do have a blog... but they never update it.

Here is some backlog to the world of Greg and Annie: They went to Utah and made a new and very dear friend, John Dower, while promoting his documentary Thrilla in Manila at the Sundance Film Festival. Here is John modeling a lovely fur at Decades (possibly the best curated second hand clothing store in all the land.) He calls this picture, Thrift Twat (English people can say that word and no one seems to mind)

Here is a good picture of me at Sundance... last year, but how about those legs? And by legs i mean bangs.

Okay here is one of this year. Its even better.

So then we got back to NYC. We went to a lykke li concert that was AWESOME. I haven't uploaded those pictures yet... soon.

Then we went to the city that took Greg's virginity, Austin, for SXSW. Here is Greg enjoying our lovely little bungalow room at the Hotel San Jose. This is by far my favorite hotel ever. It is without a doubt the absolute dreamiest. (my roomie was pretty dreamy too - look at him on that roll out!)
We had some GREAT films at SX this year including WE LIVE IN PUBLIC Ondi Timoner's recent doc. This movie rocks my world and soon it will rock yours too. In the mean time watch the trailer and get psyched. http://www.weliveinpublicthemovie.com/

Greg drank too many Mexican martinis and got sent home, but i got to stay and see music including this dreamy band called Efterklang with my viking heart throb lead singer boyfriend. Think Sigur Ros but more orchestral and edgier.

After way too much Tex Mex and BBQ (Greg will strongly disagree with that) we came home to NYC. But first here is a picture of Greg getting really mad because i spilled queso on his Jack Spade.

... and right into New Directors / New Films. And here we are at opening night at the MoMA.
Hi Emilie. (Look, Greg has on the same sweater he was wearing in Austin - that's so embarrassing for him.)

Last weekend we had a picnic and i got really sunburned and i accidentally threw my wallet in the garbage. Here is a picture of Greg and Alison digging through the garbage in Prospect Park.

That's all until the next time i dont update the blog.
