I poetry and you can also, too.

its time. and this has been weighing on me for awhile so i just need to come clean - sometimes i write poems. ahhhh there i said it. its almost as bad as dating a guy that plays the guitar who insists on playing it for you when there is no one else around. Its just one of those things that makes people really uncomfortable but the listener has to pretend that it doesn't bother him/her.

alright so the only redeeming quality i would say about the poems i write is that there is no one who takes them less seriously than i do. until recently when i entered a Time Out New York poetry contest and won. details of this misguided appreciation are below. The proof is in the pudding, or in this case.. the pie (aren't puns really terrible?)

Apple pie bake-off

We recruited six pastry mavens to pan up their best takes on the traditional fall favorite. And then we ate them.

Pie in a spiced white-chocolate box

Chef: Richard Leach, Park Avenue Autumn

“Ooooh. There are so many different densities in this. The white chocolate is delicate and fine. This is kind of brilliant.”—Rothman

“There are so many texture points, it’s crazy. The cream has the best milk flavor. And there’s a fun crumble on top.”—Gritzer

WIN ONE OF THESE PIES!

Write us a haiku—or “pie-ku”—about pies. The best entry scores one of the desserts above. Enter by sending us an email to pie-ku@timeoutny.com

THE PIE-KU CONTEST: WE HAVE A WINNER! Annie Llewellyn turned in our favorite pie haiku. In return for her witty (and somewhat dirty) efforts, she'll receive our apple pie bake-off winner (Chef Richard Leach of Park Avenue Autumn's pie in a spiced white-chocolate box).

So, now, here is the dessert-deserving pie-ku:

Pie, you are sexy
Let's make this thing legit, k?
Want you inside me
